EduAId kick-off meeting: A new step for AI in education has been done in Oldenburg

The EduAId Project, an Erasmus+ KA2 initiative, officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting held on January 22nd and 23rd, 2025, in the city of Oldenburg, Germany. Hosted by the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, the meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to collaborate on shaping the future of education through artificial  intelligence. Our Project Manager Giovanni Zorra represented BIRA presenting our expect contribution in terms of design and development of the AI-based tools.

About EduAId

EduAId stands for Transforming Education with AI Micro-Credentials for Educators, Teachers, and School Heads. The project seeks to revolutionize the educational landscape by integrating AI-driven tools and methodologies into European classrooms. With a focus on empowering educators, EduAId aims to enhance digital literacy, foster personalized learning environments, and establish a recognized system of micro-credentials to promote continuous professional development.

Kick-Off Highlights

The kick-off meeting set the stage for collaboration, innovation, and goal alignment among the consortium members, including esteemed organizations such as BIRA (Basque International Research Association), Agrupamento de Escolas de Águas Santas, and others. Key highlights included:

  • Project Vision and Objectives: Discussions centered on the overarching aim of equipping educators with cutting-edge AI tools to improve teaching quality and student outcomes.
  • Work Package Planning: Each partner presented their role, with activities focusing on AI-powered apps, gamification, and digital ecosystems.
  • Interactive Sessions: Partners engaged in brainstorming and strategic planning sessions, fostering a shared commitment to innovation in education.

BIRA’s Role in EduAId

As a proud consortium member, BIRA will play a critical role in developing AI-based tools and gamification solutions. Leveraging its expertise in digital innovation, BIRA will contribute to creating an AI-powered training platform, enabling educators to enhance their teaching practices and embrace new technologies effectively.

Additionally, BIRA will actively participate in the desk research phase, addressing ethical, policy, and methodological considerations tied to the integration of AI in education.

A Bright Future Ahead

The kick-off meeting marked an exciting beginning for the EduAId project. Over the next three years, the consortium will work closely to deliver innovative results, including:

  • An AI-based app for personalized learning.
  • Micro-credential frameworks to recognize educators’ achievements.
  • Comprehensive training programs to build educators’ confidence in using AI technologies.
